Hill figure on Cherhill Down, 3.5 miles from Calne. The white horse was first cut by a Dr Christopher Alsop in 1780. Near the horse is an obelisk called the Lansdowne Monument. This 38m stone structure was erected in 1845 by the 3rd Marquess of Lansdowne to commemorate his ancestor Sir William Petty.
