The window design has three inter-woven themes.
The central focus of the award winning window is the Tree of Life (Revelation 22:1-2). Running through the centre of the design is the vesica pisces. This symbol is linked to the early Christian ichthys (fish) symbol which means 'Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour'.
The twelve intersecting discs represent the 12 kinds of fruit that the tree produces each month.
Also symbolising the Christian fish emblem is the Pisces constellation. It's shown in the blue glass at the head of the window and in the anemones ('lilies of the field' Luke 12.27) pattern above the tree roots. Feeding from a flower is a hummingbird, a particular favourite of the donor of the window.
The borders are formed from an inter-woven pattern of vine stems, leaves and grapes relating to Jesus’ statement in John 15:1
“I am the vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.”
The dedication at the base of the window recognises the commitment of the many unnamed villagers who loved and served their local church over the last eight hundred years.
